Beauty Therapy – A Paradigm Shifting Viewpoint

Beauty is often defined as an intangible quality of certain objects, which makes these objects appealing to the senses. These objects could be landscapes, sunsets, artworks and humans. Beauty, along with art and personality, is probably the most interesting part of aesthetics, among the various branches of science.

The most prominent philosophers who spoke about beauty were Leonardo da Vinci (Italians), Jean Sibelius (Germans), Dietrich Bonhoeffer (Germans), MaximHublin (Russians) and Oliveroto (Argentines). In the twentieth century, American writer has given importance to the idea of beauty. For him, beauty is not a matter of physical appearance; rather, it is a mental state which depends upon a set of values, which are subject to change depending upon how society and time view beauty. This new definition gave birth to the concept of ’eminence,’ which is an ideal, a guiding principle which determines aesthetic tastes. The definition of beauty, according to this writer, may also be called a universal truth, since beauty transcends all cultures and nations.

Beauty therapy has also contributed significantly to the understanding of beauty. This approach, based on the idea of bodily harmony, seeks to restore the harmony in body and mind through the application of physical therapy and psychological methods. Beauty therapy is a powerful instrument, capable of changing attitudes, patterns and behavior towards beauty, which, in turn, has the potential to transform entire lives. It plays a key role in the self-esteem development and individual empowerment. It has helped millions around the world to find the path to wholeness and beauty.
