Which Sports Are Good For You?

Sport (or physical sports) is any form of typically competitive physical action that, through organised or casual participation, attempt to employ, hone or enhance physical skill and ability while also providing enjoyment to competitors, and sometimes, spectators. For this reason, the term sport has variously been used to describe numerous games and activities, including rugby, ice hockey, golf, American football, Australian soccer, motorcar racing, tennis, cricket, horse-riding, snooker, billiards, surfing, racing, track and field, figure skating, swimming, fencing and even karate, tae kwon do and Brazilian jiu jitsu. Many of these games and activities have their enthusiasts all over the world. Even though some sports are considered to be more “sporty” than others, such as golf, tennis, and sailing, most sports can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities.

One example of a sport that is often confused with other activities is gymnastics. Although most people think of gymnastics as a form of physical competition, it actually encompasses many different sports, including but not limited to diving, basketball, cheerleading, football, track and field, figure skating, gymnastics, ice dance, tennis and tai chi. A gymnast, therefore, is someone who is able to learn and execute the many different physical movements of gymnastics. While the majority of gymnasts are male, there are several female gymnasts. In recent years, the sport of gymnastics has gained widespread popularity and is now a well-respected physical exercise and fitness program not only for the young but also for adults.

It should be noted, however, that while the above-mentioned sports can be enjoyed by people of all ages, they are not all examples of athletic activity. In fact, many of the activities listed above require skill, balance, and coordination. For these reasons, it is best to consult your doctor if you are considering participating in any sports.
