A healthy lifestyle includes activities that promote physical and mental well-being. Exercise and diet are important factors in maintaining a good level of health. Other important factors to consider are stress levels and social support. While health is often an elusive goal, there are many ways to improve your quality of life. Here are a few ideas for improving your health.

First, health is defined by the absence of disease. Generally, a person is deemed healthy when a medical professional deems him or her healthy. However, advances in medical research have led to the discovery of new diseases, which can make a person unhealthy. In the current medical paradigm, people’s feelings about their health have little relevance. Only the clinical and behavioral observations of their condition are considered relevant. This limits the use of personal experiences as indicators of health.

Second, health is defined quantitatively. The medical model defined health as the absence of disease. The biopsychosocial model, which considers psychological, social, and environmental factors, sees health as a holistic concept. A recent World Health Organisation declaration, “Health is a state of complete well-being.” Although this may be too ambitious, the WHO has developed a framework that describes health in a more unified way. In short, health is about being healthy, in a good way.
