Determining the Quality of Life and the Levels of Healthy Human Health

Health is a condition of mental, physical and social well being in which infirmity and illness are absent. In most dictionaries the meaning of health is synonymous with life. Over time a number of definitions have also been employed for diverse purposes. Among them are the definition from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Hoover Institution, the American College of Cardiology, the National Association on Clinical Diagnosis and Genetics and the American Heart Association.

A study conducted by David Jenkins showed that poor self-image is associated with major illnesses such as cancer, HIV, chronic fatigue syndrome and diabetes mellitus. Similarly, the good health condition includes well-Being, which is the state or quality of life that encompasses all the components of a person’s body, mind and spirit. Self-esteem has to do with how you see yourself and how others see you. The environment plays a crucial role in the well-being of an individual. A person who lives in an unsafe neighborhood, for example, is more likely to develop serious health conditions. However, when the individual moves into an area with good social norms and security, this person tends to become healthy.

There are many other determinants of healthy human health, such as a balanced diet, regular exercise, sufficient sleep and relaxation. A balanced diet refers to the ability of a person to get all the essential nutrients needed by the body and to absorb the required amount of calories. Regular exercise is important for maintaining fitness and preventing chronic diseases. On the other hand, a lack of sleep or rest could lead to the development of serious health problems like obesity, heart diseases, arthritis, high blood pressure and depression.
