Mary Kate And Ashley Olsen opened their third store at The Grove in LA on Friday July 22nd, selling Elizabeth And James. The 1200 square foot store houses an arrangement of vintage-inspired furniture with wool, felt-lined shelves, handmade pottery, wooden floors, white brick walls, leather-wrapped fixtures and marble adornments that are meant to look like your chic friend’s showroom.
Ashley said in a press release, “The Grove is an LA institution. We’ve waited ten years to do this and are pleased for Elizabeth and James to be a part of what makes The Grove so special.”
The Elizabeth And James space offers more of a lifestyle shopping experience, allowing customers to shop the brand’s ready-to-wear, accessories and fragrances alongside vintage home décor items hand-selected by Mary-Kate and Ashley themselves.
The brick-and-mortar shop was designed by the architect David Montalba.
“Knowing that the selections come from Mary-Kate and me helps round out our state of mind for the customer,” Ashley tells InStyle’s Eric Wilson. For Mary-Kate, there was no better time than now for the opening. “You’re finding that right now in luxury, but we want to bring this concept to the contemporary market as well.”
Items sold include embossed croc handbags, Americana-fueled totes, sleek keychains, and new fragrances Nirvana Rose and Nirvana Bourbon.
“When I think of Los Angeles, I think of the water and painters like Edward Ruscha. It’s not so black and white,” Mary-Kate adds. Ashley couldn’t agree more, “For us, everything is about story telling, whether we’re shooting a look book or decorating a store, it’s about everything that is surrounding this collection.”
